  • What is a belly cast? A belly cast is a three-dimensional plaster sculpture of a woman's pregnant forms as a keepsake of her pregnancy. It's also known as belly mask, pregnant plaster cast or also baby bump casting. It's an unique piece of art made from your pregnant form. Each pregnancy has it's unique shape, form of a precious growing life inside of you. You can choose to mold your shoulder, thigh or your hand or even the hand of your loved ones too. You can decorate it yourself or I can paint a meaningful design for you and your familly.

  • CASTING STEPS

First find a comfortable sitting position, your shoulders back, on a recovered chair. The casting will take more or less 45 minutes. You can stand if you prefer but being pregnant, it's more tiresome.

I will apply Petroleum Jelly or olive oil on the parts you want to mask. The Lubricant will assure an better removal of the cast. You can recover your breast by a towel if you'll be at ease. I then wet plaster gauze strips in warm water and apply them on your body. It dries pretty fast. I use only first quality, hypoallergenic products safe for your baby and you. After removing the cast I let it dry for a few days. After comes reinforcing and triming, sanding and smooth the cast to get it prepare for the final step, the decoration or painting.

  • WHEN IS THE BEST MOMENT TO DO THE CAST?

The best time is between the 36e and the 38e week of pregnancy. If you're having twins, it's better a little bit sooner as to, 30 to 32 weeks. Don't forget it will take about 45 min, more or less depending on the model of casting desired so you have to be able to stand it. But don't wait to late and risking of having your baby before.

The belly cast can be done at the comfort of your house or mine. Travel fees may apply.

It's endless the ways you can decorate your belly mold! Your imagination is the limit! If you want me to create a special design I will make a photoshop template so you can see what it would look like. You can also give me your own template or choose to leave one color. You can put your baby's name, birthdate, footprints. I usually paint with acrylics but there's also oil, collages, mosaic, textures, pictures etc.

  • PRECAUTIONS TO TAKE

Bring old and comfy pans and bra if you wish. They'll be full of plaster but it should go after wash. The lubricant is a bit harder to leave.
